Update #3: Sunday's News

Today Bridgette's blood test came back negative, meaning her systemic infection has cleared up. She's also a little less bloated than she has been the last four days, so we have hope that the scheduled rectal irrigations are helping her stool and gas come out. Now that her tummy is no longer filled with bile, she's extremely hungry but isn't allowed to eat. This is very frustrating for both her and mom.

Occasionally, Bri's vital signs dip and all the machines beep. These scares are very stressful.

The doctor will be performing a colon biopsy tomorrow morning to check for Hirschsprung's Disease. Hirschsprung's seems to be the leading best guess for why her systems aren't performing. She has yet to be able to stool on her own, but we haven't stopped praying for a miracle.

For now we just try to keep her as comfortable as possible and hope that the positive signs continue and don't backtrack. We should have some definitive answers in the next two days and know better how long we can expect her to stay in the hospital.

We're both fairly emotionally and physically drained, but we're also hopeful. The priesthood blessing Bri received before her transfer to Primary Children's Medical Center gave us reason to believe that her little fighting soul would triumph in the end. Thanks for your continued prayers. We appreciate every thought you spare for us and especially for baby Bri.

I could just say ditto to all of the previous comments. Please know that you've been in our thoughts and prayers. Kel, I told Jeff on the phone, but I absolutely love the name Bridgette. I'm now wondering why I didn't name our Addi that. I love the pictures. She is beautiful. I can't wait for her to get home so that I can hold her. I'm sure she'll be there soon.
